Form Permissions

documentation for the dotCMS Content Management System

Form permissions can be inherited from a “parent” host or folder or be individually permissioned (non-inherited). Form permissions can be set on any form from the Forms & Polls tab.

To view the permissions set on a form, click the pencil icon to the left of the form name on the Forms & Polls tab to edit the form Content Type. Now click on the Permissions tab next to the form Properties tab.

Form Permission Inheritance from System Host

Below is an image of a form that is inheriting all its permissions from the “System Host”. This means that permissions on this form are inheriting permissions directly from the Role permissons themselves set at the System Host* level.

*For more information on setting permissions on dotCMS objects from the System Host, please see the documentation on Role Permissions.

*Setting Individual Permissions *

While editing a form, clicking on the Permissions tab and the “Permission Individually” button will stop any role inheritance coming from higher up the permission hierarchy and allows for permissions to be set on the form itself.

*For more information on setting permissions on dotCMS objects from the System Host, please see the documentation on Role Permissions.
